Non-resource exports surge fourfold; Karaganda region takes the lead
Kazakhstani enterprises achieved a significant rise in export volumes in the first eight months of this year. Backed by Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan (ECA), exports surged fourfold compared to the same period last year. The total financing provided by ECA to exporters amounted to 171.8 billion tenge.
Leading Export Regions
The Karaganda region emerged as the top exporter, accounting for 37.8% of the total export volume. Enterprises in this region received 64.9 billion tenge in support. Following Karaganda were the regions of Kostanay (25.8 billion tenge) and Almaty (21.3 billion tenge).
Export Composition
The primary export products included metallurgy (43.4%), food industry goods (39.1%), mechanical engineering products (10.5%), agro-industrial goods (4.9%), construction materials (1.5%), and glass industry items (0.3%). Foreign buyers showed high demand for beverages, confectionery, sunflower oil, corn starch, cast iron and steel products, as well as construction materials.
Export Destinations
Kazakhstan's exports reached many countries, including Uzbekistan, Russia, Singapore, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Mongolia, Lithuania, Belarus, Turkey, China, and Azerbaijan.
To further assist domestic companies in global markets, ECA has established a network of foreign representative offices in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia, and China.
