Kazakhstan’s Trade and Economic Mission in Guangzhou: New Prospects for Cooperation
In the capital of Guangdong Province, the Kazakhstan Trade and Economic Mission (TEM) took place, with the participation of more than 20 domestic companies and representatives of China’s leading business circles. The mission was opened by the Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Arman Shakkaliev. In his speech, he emphasized that Kazakhstan and China are strategic partners, and trade turnover between the two countries in the first half of 2025 reached nearly $15 billion, an increase of 5.9% compared to the same period last year.
The Minister paid special attention to Guangdong Province — China’s largest economy with a GDP of $1.9 trillion. Last year, trade between the region and Kazakhstan grew by 37.3%, underlining the high potential for further cooperation.
Liu Zhaoqiang, Regional Director of Kazakhstan’s Export Credit Agency in China, presented support measures for Kazakh producers. Since 2019, the agency has assisted domestic exporters in entering the Chinese market in non-resource sectors — from agriculture and food production to metallurgy and light industry. The support includes export loan insurance and deferred contract payments.
Within the framework of the TEM, memorandums of cooperation were signed and direct links were established with Guangdong trade associations. Agreements were reached on the supply of Kazakhstani products worth $45 million, including rapeseed oil, feed meal, and barley.
As a result of the negotiations, the parties confirmed their intention to expand mutual supplies, develop new joint projects, and strengthen interregional cooperation. The TEM in Guangzhou became an important platform for promoting Kazakhstani business and reinforcing the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and China.
