The Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan participated in the International Italy-Kazakhstan Supply Chain Forum

The Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan, a subsidiary of the National Managing Holding «Baiterek» participated in the international Italy-Kazakhstan Supply Chain Forum. The event brought together over 350 representatives from government agencies, businesses and industry associations across various economic sectors. More than half of the participants represented Italian companies, ranging from large industrial corporations to small and medium-sized enterprises.

The forum was a direct result of agreements reached during Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's visit to the Italian Republic in 2024, where mutually beneficial cooperation was launched to increase trade and investment.

Discussions at the forum covered logistics, trade, industrial projects and the development of supply chains between Kazakhstan and Italy. Participants also addressed the current state and future prospects of supplies, as well as an increase in local production of Kazakhstani agro-industrial goods, metals and petrochemical products for the Italian and EU markets.

On the sidelines of the forum, Allen Chaizhunussov, Chairman of the Board of the Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan, met with David Petrangeli, Head of the Financing Department of Multilateral Institutions and State Development Banks at CDP Cassa Depositi e Prestiti. The parties discussed prospects and plans for further cooperation with the Italian ECA SACE (SACE is part of the CDP group of companies).

During a panel session at the forum, Ayan Bektybayeva, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan, emphasized the significant importance and great prospects of cooperation between the two countries. She called for the initiation and creation of export-oriented joint ventures and also detailed the agency's tools applicable to establishing such enterprises.

«This is a path to mutual growth, technological development, and access to global markets,» noted A. Bektybayeva. «Kazakhstan and Italy have high potential for setting up joint ventures, which is beneficial for both sides. For Kazakhstan, it means access to technology and European supply chains, and for Italy, it means stable access to raw materials and the ability to reduce production costs through direct access to raw materials. Our agency is ready to provide comprehensive support to Italian companies interested in implementing joint projects in Kazakhstan. We have specific support mechanisms that we are happy to offer to our Italian partners».

The Italy–Kazakhstan Supply Chain Forum, organized just before the Astana International Forum served as an important milestone in developing bilateral relations, fostering industrial growth and promoting sustainable cross-border cooperation. The event was part of a roadmap aimed at building long-term cooperation between the two countries in key sectors of global supply chains at a high institutional level.

The forum was organized by the Italian-Kazakh Trade Association in partnership with the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, the Embassy of Italy in Kazakhstan and the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Italy.

In 2024 the Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan and the Italian Export Credit Agency SACE signed a memorandum of understanding and joint support for export trade. This document aims to develop trade and economic cooperation between Italy and Kazakhstan, stimulate investment by supporting Italian companies interested in doing business in Central Asia and encourage the access and presence of Kazakhstani companies in the Italian market.
