Novo-Dzhambul Phosphorus Plant: A Story of Success and the People Behind It
In 2025 — the Year of Vocational Professions — JSC "Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan" is launching a special project aimed at elevating the status of skilled trades, improving workforce training quality, and expanding collaboration with supported enterprises.
As part of this initiative, we will highlight stories of working professionals and their unique careers, contributing to the development of vocational education and the structuring of the labor market to promote skilled labor.
The first edition of our project is dedicated to the Novo-Dzhambul Phosphorus Plant (NDPP) and its employees — representatives of one of the key professions in modern industry. We will showcase the individuals whose hard work ensures the production of goods vital to the national economy.
NDPP is a unique industrial enterprise with a vertically integrated structure — from ore extraction to the production of yellow phosphorus and its derivatives. The plant was established in 1978. Today, more than 3,000 employees work at the facility, which spans over 600 hectares.
NDPP is a city-forming enterprise for the Zhambyl Region and the city of Taraz and plays an active role in implementing local social initiatives.
Notably, NDPP is the first in the world to implement a technology for producing yellow phosphorus from agglomerated fine phosphorus raw material.
The enterprise is export-oriented, with most of its output delivered to consumers in the CIS countries, Poland, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Germany, India, and the United States. These export operations are supported by the Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan.
The plant's products are used in the production of thermal phosphoric acid, food additives, synthetic detergents, cement and concrete admixtures for roads, steelmaking applications, and high-grade chemical products.
