KazakhExport is a member of UN’s International Net- Zero Emissions Alliance

The Export Insurance Company “KazakhExport” JSC joined the Net Zero Export Credit Agencies Alliance (NZECA) as an affiliated participant of the UN’s international net-zero emissions alliance. The corresponding document was signed during the World Climate Summit (COP28).

The NZECA is a new project carried out with the support of the United Nations Environment Program Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) and the Center for Innovation at the University of Oxford. The Alliance's members include the world's largest export credit agencies

By becoming a member of NZECA, KazakhExport is committed to supporting Kazakh exporters in their transition to a low-carbon economy, enabling reduction in emissions and shifting strategic focus toward projects and investments that are environmentally friendly and climate-resilient.

“Financial institutions, banks and insurance organizations are responsible for transmitting businesses’ value systems and strategy guidelines when building portfolio and selecting projects. In our case, we aim to assist producers in transitioning to a more environmentally friendly production through endorsement and encouragement of the real sector with insurance benefits and the search for funding. To us, joining the NZECA is a means of bringing innovative experiences into the line with our reality as we work toward becoming carbon neutral. The UNEP FI, in our opinion, provides the best platform for developing collaborative efforts in solving such a serious issue,” – stated Ayan Bektybayeva, the Deputy Chairman of KazakhExport Board.

Bektybayeva further underlined that KazakhExport has already started designing and long-term planning the climate agenda as part of its corporate ESG objectives, and she expressed optimism that this initiative will increase Kazakhstan’s sustainability and investment appeal.

According to the Strategy for Achieving Carbon Neutrality of the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2060, which was approved by Presidential decree from Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, KazakhExport defines the path towards low-carbon development and carbon neutrality as a strategic priority, taking into account UN sustainable development goals and global climate trends.
