Kazakhstan and Tajikistan – scaling up business cooperation

On March 18, an event organized by the Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan was held in Dushanbe, dedicated to strengthening business ties and presenting financial instruments to support exports. Among the participants were the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Tajikistan V. Turekhanov, the leadership of the National Bank and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan, as well as representatives of banking institutions and business circles of the republic.

Special attention was paid to the role of Tajik banks in promoting instruments for the further growth of local businesses. Among the current partner banks in Tajikistan are GUP SB “Amonatbank”, OJSC “Orienbank”, and GUP SEBT “Sanoatsodirotbank”.

During the event, a memorandum of partnership was signed between the Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan and the potential importer LLC “Sebiston-2018”. The parties expressed confidence that these agreements will lay the foundation for the implementation of joint projects, particularly in the field of civil construction modernization.

Following the event, B2B meetings were also organized with the participation of business representatives—importers interested in supplying Kazakhstani products—and representatives of second-tier banks ready to support these transactions through trade finance instruments provided by the Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan and Kazakhstani banks.

In 2025, the Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan provided financial and insurance support for export contracts totaling USD 185 million for the supply of products from Kazakhstan’s metallurgical, petrochemical, and food industries to the Republic of Tajikistan. The volume of insurance liabilities assumed for Tajik importers in 2025 amounted to 7.6 billion tenge.
