Export‑Credit Agency of Kazakhstan (ECA) participated in the 8th edition of the China International Import
Expo (CIIE) – one of Asia’s largest trade-economic events bringing together producers and buyers from around the world.
Since 2018 the CIIE, convened under the auspices of the Government of the People’s Republic of China, has served as a strategic platform for the development of international trade and investment cooperation. In 2025 the exhibition area exceeded 420 000 m² and presented more than 400 new products, technologies and services across key industries such as advanced machinery engineering, innovative materials and marine engineering.
Over the years the CIIE has attracted more than 10 000 companies and introduced over 2 400 new products and services to the Chinese market. This year Kazakhstan’s participation was record-breaking: more than 100 domestic manufacturers showcased their products at the national stand.
As part of the business programme of the expo, the ECA delegation held targeted negotiations with leading Chinese companies, including Xiamen ITG Group (ITG) and COSCO SHIPPING Lines (COSCO), in order to engage directly with key importers and market operators in China.
In particular, at the ITG Shanghai office the ECA Chairman of the Board, Allen Chaijunusov, introduced the Agency’s institutional operations and the full toolkit of state support available to Kazakh exporters, including export‐risk insurance and trade-finance products.
ITG’s head, Lyu Chunwei, expressed readiness to apply these mechanisms in trade operations with the Kazakh Grain Consortium, the “Sei-Nar” production complex and other domestic agro-industrial suppliers. The volume of planned advance payments is estimated at 20-30 million CNY (about 1.4-2.3 billion KZT), while the annual turnover could reach up to four delivery cycles. A protocol of intent is expected soon following ITG’s visit to Kazakhstan.
ITG also expressed interest in using ECA’s instruments and is considering expanding cooperation to other commodity positions and international markets.
Following the negotiations, COSCO SHIPPING Lines, one of the world’s largest container sea-freight operators, announced its readiness to provide up to 10 000 containers annually to ITG for transporting goods from Kazakhstan to China. This cooperation will enhance export logistics efficiency, optimise deliveries and strengthen Kazakhstan’s position as a reliable partner in international trade.
ECA Chairman Allen Chaijunusov noted: “By hedging export risks and structuring financial-insurance mechanisms, the ECA creates preferential conditions for domestic exporters, enhancing their competitiveness on the largest Asian market. The interest of Chinese counterparties in Kazakh products underscores their investment attractiveness, and we are ready to provide full support for uninterrupted execution of export operations.”
ECA’s participation in international exhibitions, including the China International Import Expo, contributes to promoting Kazakh products on global markets, strengthening the country’s foreign-economic potential and building sustainable trade-finance links.
It should be recalled that ECA’s interests in China are represented by Zhuoqiang Liu, who promotes the agency’s support instruments among importers, monitors the financial stability and reliability of key Chinese partners, and advises participants in deals on market entry into China.
