How the ECA Roadshow in East Kazakhstan Region Went
On August 13–14, 2025, the Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan (ECA) organized a roadshow in the East Kazakhstan Region. The two-day program included a press tour of export-oriented enterprises in the region and a seminar for business representatives — potential exporters. The event was organized with the support of the regional akimat and the regional Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken.”
The roadshow provided an opportunity to comprehensively present the company’s activities, highlight its capabilities, and introduce financial instruments aimed at stimulating the country’s non-resource exports.
ECA is one of Kazakhstan’s key development institutions, supporting the growth of non-resource sector exports in priority industries through insurance and guarantee instruments, pre-export and export trade financing.
The Agency provides exporters, second-tier banks, and the Development Bank of Kazakhstan with insurance protection against non-payment risks in foreign trade operations. It also assists exporters in finding new sales markets by facilitating contacts with foreign buyers.
In 2025, support was provided to more than 80 exporters, including small and medium-sized enterprises, which accounted for 70% of all supported projects.
The main export products include food, metal products, oil refining products, chemical industry goods, agro-industrial complex products, and construction materials.
Key export destinations are Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, China, the Russian Federation, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Mongolia, and the UAE.
In the first half of 2025, the volume of support provided by ECA exceeded 333 billion tenge, and by the end of the year it is expected to reach 600 billion tenge. East Kazakhstan Region ranked among the top three regions for exporters receiving ECA support, with a total of 30 billion tenge in assistance. In 2024, thanks to the agency’s support, more than 10 export-oriented companies implemented projects worth over 62 billion tenge.
East Kazakhstan Region has significant potential for export development. Accordingly, ECA intends to continue supporting entrepreneurship in the region, providing companies with access to new markets and opportunities.
During the press tour, participants were introduced to best practices in increasing export volumes, finding foreign buyers, modernizing production, implementing advanced technologies, creating new jobs, and expanding product ranges. Enterprises such as Altyn Shyghys LLP, Vostokmashzavod JSC, and ALTAI MAI LLP were presented as examples.
The second day of the roadshow was dedicated to an “Open Day,” which included a seminar on support measures for entrepreneurs and B2B meetings. Representatives of the agro-industrial complex, light industry, and food industry took part in the event.
ECA’s Regional Manager, Altyngul Tulegenova, informed entrepreneurs about support tools, with a particular focus on a new product — guarantees for export operations.
One of the main topics discussed was the pre-export financing instrument, which offers favorable lending conditions with an annual interest rate of no more than 12.6%. This mechanism is available both through commercial banks and the Development Bank of Kazakhstan. According to the ECA representative, it is the most popular financial product, ensuring working capital for the purchase of raw materials and preparation of export batches.
“As a result of the roadshow, specific proposals for cooperation with regional entrepreneurs were developed. There is genuine interest in the agency’s activities from their side. Such events allow us to remain open, be heard, and most importantly, be useful, attracting more and more exporters,” ECA representatives noted.
The Agency has set ambitious goals. To achieve them, new products are being developed and existing tools improved, tailored to global standards and the needs of specific markets. Special attention is paid to digitalization and artificial intelligence, which will simplify interaction with clients.
Thanks to the development of digital services, it has become easier to access the agency’s services. Exporters can submit applications via their personal account on the ECA official website or through the bgov.kz portal. The system allows real-time tracking of application status.
Any Kazakhstani enterprise engaged in the non-resource production of goods, works, or services can benefit from ECA services.
Over the past ten years, ECA has supported more than 300 exporters for a total of 1.8 trillion tenge.
