Shymkent Enterprise Enters Chinese Market with ECA Support

Shymkent-based enterprise "Stroi Construction" LLP, specializing in metalworking, has made its first foray into the Chinese market. This achievement was made possible thanks to the support of "Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan" JSC (ECA).

"Stroi Construction's" journey began with challenges. Established in 2020, the company immediately faced pandemic restrictions and issues with logistics and production. Nevertheless, despite all difficulties, the company managed to establish an annual output of over three thousand tons of high-quality products. Today, its product range includes over 1,500 items, from standard profile products to unique custom-made structures.

The high quality of its products allowed "Stroi Construction" to expand far beyond its region. This year, the company has already exported approximately 800 tons of aluminum, totaling $1.8 million, to Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and now, with ECA's support, to China.

Entering the complex Chinese market proved to be a challenging task even for experienced players. The company's management acknowledges that breaking into it independently would have been virtually impossible without ECA's assistance.

"The Chinese market is incredibly difficult to enter due to the country's dominant position as a global manufacturer and exporter. With the support of the Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan, we were able to achieve our goal and open up a new market. The deferred payment option they provided allows us to increase our standard production volume, as all our non-payment risks are insured by the Agency. This is truly significant help, especially for SMEs," noted Dinmukhamed Kaldybek, Commercial Director of "Stroi Construction" LLP.

Thus, on June 19, the ECA provided "Stroi Construction" with deferred payment insurance for an export contract with a Chinese counterparty for the supply of aluminum ingots.

The experience of cooperation proved to be very effective, and the enterprise soon additionally utilized the Agency's support instruments. The ECA provided the plant with pre-export financing through a commercial bank. These funds, at a preferential rate, will allow "Stroi Construction" to purchase the necessary raw materials for producing the required volume of products for export.

"We offer comprehensive support to our exporters to enter foreign markets, establish and modernize production, acquire new equipment, or implement other investment programs," noted Madina Yerzhanova, Deputy Chairperson of the ECA Management Board. "The deal with Stroi Construction is a prime example of how combining insurance and pre-export financing tools allows Kazakh companies to confidently enter new markets and expand their presence. Stroi Construction's activities not only contribute to increased export volumes but will also positively impact the economic development of Shymkent, including the creation of new jobs and the stimulation of local industry."

Today, the Shymkent metalworking enterprise provides stable employment for over 150 people. The company's arsenal includes modern laser cutting technologies and a powerful foundry, enabling it to fulfill orders of any complexity with the highest precision and in the shortest possible time.

Despite its current successes, "Stroi Construction's" management has set ambitious goals: by 2026, they plan to open additional plants—a galvanizing plant and a pipe factory.

ECA continues to actively support domestic exporters in the regions, expanding the horizons of Kazakhstani businesses in the international market.

According to preliminary results for the first half of this year, over 40 domestic exporters received ECA support totaling approximately 300 billion tenge. By the end of 2025, ECA plans to provide support for export operations exceeding 600 billion tenge.
