ECA Participates in the International Fats and Oils Conference
Kazakhstan’s oilseed processing industry holds significant export potential. Today, the country ranks among the world’s top ten exporters of sunflower oil, and the sector continues to demonstrate strong growth prospects.
These topics were discussed during the International Fats and Oils Conference (FOC). Sergey Kuklin, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of the Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan (ECA), spoke at a panel session, highlighting the potential of domestic fats and oils producers and their important role in expanding the country’s export capabilities. He emphasized that products from the agro-industrial complex traditionally rank among the top three in ECA’s export insurance portfolio by volume.
“Our support instruments are designed to provide producers with the necessary liquidity to meet their export obligations on time. This helps minimize production and market risks, stabilize supply chains, and ultimately, significantly increase the export volumes of finished fats and oils products,” said Mr. Kuklin.
The conference brought together more than 180 participants from Kazakhstan, the United States, China, Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East. Discussions focused on the industry’s development prospects, logistics improvements, crop diversification, and investment attraction.
It is worth noting that on May 21 of this year, with the support of the Baiterek National Management Holding, three-party agreements were signed between the Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan, the Development Bank of Kazakhstan, and major oilseed processing companies — Altyn Shyghys LLP and Qazaq-Astyq Group LLP. These agreements are part of a new program launched by Baiterek Holding to support domestic producers of fats and oils products, including pre-export financing aimed at forward purchasing oilseeds under active export contracts.
The total amount of financing under the program will reach up to 23 billion tenge, which will be allocated for the procurement of raw materials for further deep processing and export.
